Art With A Lawnmower


This artwork/book documents a dialogue between the formal and the natural in landscape. The mowed lawn is a recent garden phenomenon and in the contemporary garden the mown lawn represents the controlled, the meadow the wild. In this work, sections of lawn formed a natural parterre that were allowed to grow wild.

Over two years, the mowings, the plants and the seasonal changes were documented using photographs and plant listings

11” x 8.5” designed and produced using Apple’s Aperture software the 42 page artwork/book with 53 photographs is limited to 150 signed and numbered copies.

With an afterword by Stephen Bann.
